I am still at it - into the second week of Project 365.
January 27
Lucy is about 7 months old and such a fun kitten. She is an indoor cat, so can only enjoy the outdoors through the window. It is so fun to watch her watching the birds, making that cat 'clicking' noise she makes.
January 28
It took me a lot longer than I liked to figure out how to turn off the flash. I didn't feel like looking for the instruction manual. We have had this camera for so long, it is probably lost. Turns out it is a button on the top of the camera. I was looking for something in the on-screen menu.
January 29
This is a wedding present, so we have had it for over 27 years. It is made out of Peking Glass and I think it is so pretty. It is something I see every day, but don't pay a lot of attention to it. Looking at is closely, I can see the dainty details of the leaves and flower petals. The wall behind it is yellow, but doesn't look like it in this photo.

Party Lite craziness. In January of the last few years, I have had a candle party. There are a lot of ladies in our 'candle circle' and it seems like I am always going to a candle party. I had over $800 in sales which resulted in me getting a boatload of free stuff. This mass of boxes is all the product delivered to my house this week. Most of it will be taken to my party guests.
January 31
Palm trees, one of the ubiquitous symbols of Southern California. These are outside the new Target in the Irvine Spectrum. They are especially pretty on cloudy days like today.
February 1
I love online shopping. I ordered a pair of Keds red canvas shoes at 4pm on Wednesday and they were at my house on Thursday - less than 24 hours from the time I ordered. And, if I can believe the shipping label, they came from the other side of the country. I thought I read on their website that an order had to be placed before 1pm Pacific Time to be shipped the same day, so I was very surprised to see them.
February 2
There is agriculture in suburbia. This strawberry field is across the street from our neighborhood. I was waiting for traffic to clear so I could make a left turn when I took this picture from the car.

The First Seven Days
I read about Project 365 (thanks Marianne) and thought it would be fun to try. I didn't start on January 1, but on January 20. The idea is to take a photo a day. I have taken several each day and have chosen my favorites. Here are my choices from my first seven days. I am currently using a Nikon Coolpix 800, a camera we have had for quite some time.
January 20
Our collection of firewood on the side of the house looked really cool. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and I took several photos outside and this was my favorite. The side of the house almost looks like snow in the background.
January 21
When we play golf, I always play from the forward tees. This time they were red. We played at El Rancho Verde Country Club in Rialto, California on an extremely windy day. It was so bad, my hat, that had been bobby pinned to my head, blew off. By the 18th hole, I couldn't play anymore. I was miserable.
January 22
How could I not include something to represent where I spend most of my time Monday through Friday. I have been here three and a half years and for the most part I enjoy it. The best part is that it is less than 2.5 miles from home. That will change in the middle of March. We are moving to a brand new facility that is about 5 or 6 miles away. There goes my lovely commute. :(
January 23
This is only a part of my desk at work. I have lots of little things and they are all different colors. Part of this project is to get to know your camera, so I thought black and white would kill two birds with one stone - eliminate the color confusion and try a function other than automatic on the camera.
January 24
How can our bookshelves be so crowded? There are many books that cannot be put away properly. I know have not read all of them and neither has Dennis.
January 25
Goofy, the cat we have had for 15 years. He has outlasted three other cats and is not too thrilled that we have brought yet another kitten into our home. He is not a lap cat, but he does like to be near where I am. Here he is in the little space between my keyboard and my scanner.
January 26
Some of the people at work are very nice. One of the guys went to Japan this week and brought me this Hello Kitty figure dressed in Japanese attire because Steve is living in Japan. Very sweet. He knows I miss him and hoped this would make me smile - it did!
